The Voicemail

James and Stefan usually get together every Thursday morning to talk about the week's news. This morning, however, they spent most of their time discussing their new devices. James recently acquired, with his own money, a Sony Xperia Z2, while Stefan was sent a Samsung Galaxy S5 to review. Spoiler: James is happy and Stefan likes to swear.

The two also shared their thoughts on the One Plus One Times Three Divided By Five, Xiaomi buying Mi.com, where's the best place to backup your photos (James loves Flickr), and whether or not it's worth paying a premium to have 4G LTE.

As always, feedback is appreciated, and if you use iTunes to listen to the show, then do rate it as it helps increase the number of people who will discover the program.

Last week, James and Stefan told you they'd have new toys to talk about on the show. The Gods of Logistics have ruined that dream. But have no fear, there's always something to discuss. On this week's episode: The Amazon Phone leaked. The iPhone 6 leaked (kind of). The LG G3 leaked (at least the box did). The fingerprint reader in the Galaxy S5 was "hacked". And Google bought Titan Aerospace.

More importantly, they answered seven listener questions, which has to be some kind of record: What do you guys think about Heartbleed and privacy in general? Will Microsoft ruin Nokia after the acquisition? Which flagship (Android) phone should I buy? Why doesn't the new fancy keyboard in Windows Phone 8.1 support my language? What's your favorite podcast and podcast app? When will Xiaomi come to the United States? Are there any apps I can install on my Android phone that will show me what's killing my battery?

As always, feedback is appreciated, and if you use iTunes to listen to The Voicemail, do James and Stefan a solid and rate the show. It makes the show move up the charts, which translates into more listeners. Show Notes:

This week's show was published over a day and a half later than usual due to James being away on business. It was also recorded at night, so Stefan and James weren't as sharp as they usually are when they record first thing in the morning after a cup of coffee.

With that out of the way, here's what they talked about: The Galaxy S5 launched today. Samsung also fixed the Gear Fit screen orientation bug. HTC's One M8 has issues reading SIM cards. Some Sony Xperia Z2 owners have serious build quality issues. Amazon bought comiXology. Dropbox announced a bunch of stuff. Facebook is forcing people to download Facebook Messenger. LG's G Watch got a UK price and release date. Netflix has started streaming 4K. StoreDot scammed the internet. And finally, two questions. One about the Snapdragon 801 versus the Snapdragon 805, and another about how long a phone should last when subjected to typical wear and tear.

As always, if you have any feedback, do leave a comment below, and if you use iTunes, then rate the show since it helps more people discover the program. Show Notes:

Microsoft held a three hour keynote yesterday, which is why James and Stefan went nearly eight minutes long on this week's episode of The Voicemail. The two also discussed Apple trying to steal designers from Louis Vuitton, what Mozilla's new CEO thinks about gay marriage, Office for iPad, and the new "Powered by Android" guidelines that device makers now have to follow. There were also quite a few questions answered too.
